War & Churches

Written by Steve Milligan on 16th May 2025

(Chorus)

We are a world of war and churches

Praying for it all to burn

To light the darkness we’ve been preaching

With the tribes we couldn’t turn

First they came to take our lovers

Crafting cages from the word

Shaping new spite from old meaning

Though they proclaimed it’s what they heard

Then the lovers fought the preachers

With a dogma forged in light

One that shepherded the monsters

Toward a flock that couldn’t fight

Man is tidal, love is still

We break our waves against

The sands that built our will

(Chorus)

They smothered mother with her insides

Burnt her lungs with flaming greed

Bled her dry to build an empire

From screaming gears that boiled her seas

Til we chained ourselves down to her

Rinsing rivers with our tears

Now she stands but we’re still sobbing

Cause our new empire feeds on fear

See saw til the story ends

Elder victims birth

Young tyrants in defence

(Chorus)

And if you don’t kneel at an alter

If your steeple is the sun

You better learn to flow like water

Cause every hell is on the run
